Here's a video clip with sound from the Tango. If I had to choose again, I'd still go with the Tango. I just asked and they agreed to honour the expired special - I received a bunch of extra batteries etc. I also missed a deadline on a special which expired a month before the purchase. I bit that lure immediately and just completed a 2.8 hour CC with them. Someone spammed the new wireless Lightspeed Tango headsets here. I ordered mine directly from Lightspeed when the the Dollar was at R12.50 and paid R4000 less than what the South African suppliers charge. This item: Lightspeed - A550 - Tango - Single Battery Wall Charger. Last week someone spammed this sub with the new truly wireless Tango headsets. I haven't charged the headset a lot and the rubber clip covering the USB charging point already doesn't close anymore. The audio is recorded in a strange format which cannot be opened in any video editing software, which means that you have to convert it to MP3 in VLC. To some extent this does defeat the point of having a wireless headset, but the cable plugs into the control unit and not the headset which means that your headset is still free from any cables. When using the cable I'm able to record my voice and ATC. I only manage to record my own voice when using Bluetooth. The Flight Link app is a nice to have, but it automatically stops recording when you receive a call or when music starts playing. The problem when using the cable is that it then becomes a passive headset. You don't have to open the unit to access the cable and it retracts with a spring mechanism. When the battery runs out, there is a cable at the bottom of the control unit which you can use. Charging the batteries takes less than an hour and you can charge it on any USB port. I never fly more than an hour, but I have gone for 8 hours without charging the batteries and they lasted (I didn't use bluetooth while flying which might drain the battery a bit quicker). It doesn't work well when wearing glasses and your glasses needs to rest on top of the headset to prevent a shuddering noise. Comm priority is also adjusted on the headset. The volume is adjusted on the ear piece of the headset with a large flip/toggle button. There is no interference as it doesn't use Bluetooth or Wifi for the comms. It feels much more plastic than the A20, but I don't like the feel of the A20, I don't like the idea of changing batteries in the A20 and I don't like the idea of cables dangling around. Sound-wise, I can't tell the difference between the PFX, Tango and A20. It's much larger than other headsets, but more comfortable and I'm unaware of it while flying. I'm willing to do the same - keep in mind that I have helicopter plugs on my headset. I can't really compare my Tango to anything else as it's my first headset.Ī few strangers offered that I try their headsets before buying.
